2008 Global Day of Prayer Promotional Materials, Prayer Guides and DVD Are Ready From Waymakers for Sunday, May 11, USA GDOP
A few days ago, I received an e-mail from Stephanie Tucker letting me know that there were some new promotional materials available for this year's 2008 GDOP Global Day of Prayer on Sunday, May 11. She commented that upwards of 250 million Christians from almost every country in the world are planning to gather in large stadiums and churches.
An excerpt from her e-mail follows:
"The DVD portrays the tremendous joy and passion now rising across the earth with the Global Day of Prayer. Along with these short promo videos, there are dozens of other videos, PowerPoint presentations and documents, which are designed to equip local prayer leaders to involve their people in local GDOP gatherings."

Cleveland, Tennessee Police Chief Wes Snyder & Bradley County Sheriff Tim Gobble Speak at GDOP Global Day of Prayer Luncheon.
Melissa Synder, for the Bradley News Weekly, just wrote a post about Cleveland, Tennessee Police Chief Wes Snyder and Bradley County Sheriff Tim Gobble speaking at a Global Day of Prayer kick-off luncheon recently.
The GDOP luncheon was held at the Holiday Inn Mountain View and leaders from Law Enforcement spoke to pastors, chaplains, business men and women and others.
Melissa writes...
"Sheriff Tim Gobble said, 'Jesus gave us many examples of prayer.' Gobble said he believes in prayer and is appreciative of the prayers on behalf of the Bradley Sheriff deputies and employees but asked that the prisoners in the jail not be forgotten. 'They need our prayers too,' Gobble said."
She continues...
"Cleveland Police Chief Wes Snyder said that prayer is the driving force of keeping law enforcement officers safe. 'Time and time again, I have witnessed the power of prayer and I have seen the results of prayer,' said Snyder."
The Global Day of Prayer for Cleveland, Tennessee, is scheduled to be held at North Cleveland Church of God.
Early Easter Affects When Global Day of Prayer GDOP Events Happen

An Early Easter This Year Affects When The Global Day of Prayer GDOP Events Happen - Pentecost Sunday, May 11th, is also Mother's Day!
Since Easter falls so early this year, The Global Day of Prayer, which is scheduled to be held each year on Pentecost Sunday, will also fall on what is traditionally Mother's Day in the USA.
The website webexhibits.org says the following about how Easter is decided each year:
"When is Easter? (Short answer) Easter Sunday is the first Sunday after the first full moon after vernal equinox."

The fact that Easter is happening so early in the year has caused many Global Day of Prayer organizers in cities around the United States to consider moving their GDOP event up from Sunday, May 11, to Saturday, May 10.
For example, Jeff Wright (from The Register-Guard in Eugene, Oregon) posted an article earlier today entitled, "GREETING AN EARLY EASTER - The religious day’s arrival on March 23 is catching some people off guard."
Toward the very conclusion of the article, Jeff writes the following...
"An early Easter has a domino effect that can affect other events months into the future. For example, onehope, a local evangelical Christian group, annually sponsors a 'global day of prayer' at Civic Stadium on Pentecost Sunday, which takes place seven Sundays after Easter. That means that, this year, Pentecost Sunday will fall on May 11 - Mother’s Day."
